Week 4: Switches

Resources

Assignment due Feb 19

General

  • Bring all supplies and your assignment to next class.

Part 1: Prepare for Arduino 1

Next class we will dive into Arduino with the Circuit Playground Express. If you choose to use a different board, you are responsible for translating the pins using the pin out during in class exercises.

  • Make sure you have the Arduino software downloaded before you come to class.
  • Bring the Circuit Playground Express (or another board if you choose), a data cable (not just a power cable!), Alligator Clips, and a laptop to run the IDE.

Part 2: Switch Mechanics

Submit your documentation to this Google Form by end of day on Feb 19.

Create another switch inspired by a specific action or verb. Build it, test it, and document your process. Please bring it to the next class – we will use it!

Document your project on a personal blog, in a Google doc, or another easily shareable format. It must include the elements below:

  • Write a brief description of how your switch works and why you decided to make this design.
  • List the materials and tools you used.
  • Take 2-3 process pictures that documents you building the switch.
  • Take a video demonstrating you testing the switch with a battery and LED.
